Are they exhausting us? The working poor delirium.

Quote: It is our best work that God wants, not the dregs of our exhaustion. I think he must prefer quality to quantity.

George MacDonald

Do you get the feeling of mental exhaustion or being used? Well, you should, because most likely you are. On the entrance to Auschwitz, was a steel sign “Work sets you free” as the Jews entered, they entered in a state of delirium.

Slavery and exploitation are one of the most common crimes in the world and always been sadly. However, is this happening in our modern western culture? If you’re like me and have been a worker and taxpayer for some time, for example a Gen X, you may have noticed a lot of extra challenges have appeared before us than our previous generations.

A lot of this is due to the misperception of wealth obtainment, that if you don’t work, your lazy, a lot of psychology terms are thrown around such as demotivation, not following your dreams, do what you love to succeed.

The reality is that not all of us do what we love but learn to love what we do in order reach our goals, if that isn’t stressful enough, we also pay for our principal place of residence, or some would call it a home at a level that is unprecedented.

Without sliding too much off topic , I have quite deliberately over the years chosen not to invest in property for the very simple reason, I don’t invest in something I don’t trust, just the other day I went to an Ezy mart and went to buy a snickers bar, I decided not to buy it, it looked funny to me the wrapping looked worn and faded, as it had been sitting in the sun for ages, as it turns out it was, the used by date was about 4 months ago.

Property is no different, if the price isn’t right and doesn’t suit your budget or means or the place looks dodgy, and you can’t work with it……. don’t buy it, just like the snickers bar. A purchase is a purchase.

I’m so glad for the choices I have made that I didn’t invest in property but instead saved for retirement and rainy days. Its always good to have cash as your asset, especially in the digital age as your investment value is easily tracked, proven and the govt has a guarantee on it, you will always need income. I learnt this from business studies, however when I speak to execs they always shout property, must have property, I shrug my shoulders, property like anything else goes up and down in value and of course the debt that comes with paying for it, I shudder to think the debt I would be in if I surrendered my position, having said that though, that in itself didn’t come without sacrifices.

What I have observed over the years is the rise of capitalist tax incentives that only support corporations and a higher income bracket, a classic example in Australia would be negative gearing, the whole purpose of NG is to genuinely assist landlords so they can keep land lording and being real businesspeople, not as a tax break investment, as a result of NG being used as a tax break, we have whole heap of investment property owners who aren’t real businesspeople with business and people knowledge and empty properties.

As I work in Brisbane city and walk along the main streets and the rise in homeless people amongst the CBD main streets has risen dramatically over the years, I remember as a kid visiting Brisbane regularly and I can’t remember ever seeing homeless people in the eighties or nineties. As a result of this we are working harder than ever, the only positive is we have the tech to deal with it, AI will prove to be very interesting.

It’s time we started rewarding people who are willing to help communities grow, solve community problems in the form of business and growth grants and payments for individuals not just tax breaks for those who clearly don’t need it, but politicians need donations. What we are seeing today is an ideology of people who are not entrepreneurial in any way but are simply looking for a quick financial fix and go around pretending that they have worked so hard and somehow a business genius.

Having a working poor population who is working their ass off and can’t pay for the basics such as rent, food and utilities is called SLAVERY. Slaves of course suffer from malnutrition, dehydration and of course create great and amazing things from road networks, the White House in Washington and the great pyramids of Egypt.

Working poor or Slavery is what is happening today, right now, we are dehydrating ourselves with slow wage growth not keeping up with cost of living and living in a home. In this dehydration comes our delirium, we need to hydrate ourselves, and demand a better future that embraces the new technology and rewards people who make the effort for our community and with the same hand help the most vulnerable. Our delirium must end, for it is in our delirium when the predator strikes.

Did you know that you have a higher power?

Quote: No one has proof that I know of, that a higher power exists, yet a major portion of the world believes in it and relies on it in faith in trust, in what that is. Where is the science in that? And yet you have incredible belief in that.

Sandra Bullock

What is our higher power? Good question, when we think of a higher power we tend to believe in a power higher than ourselves, I’m inclined to believe that our higher power is when we choose to focus on what’s happening and do what’s needed as opposed to what is it that I am feeling.

Feelings are fine and it’s important to acknowledge them, however at the end of the day it’s important to focus on what we want to achieve and what are the long term benefits of that not only for ourselves but others.

When we enter a world of feelings only we then enter a world of tribalism, where it is more important to ask who is your tribe and how does that tribe make me feel as opposed to what they stand for, for example a westerner may find a half naked Amazonian or African tribe confronting but they may offer solutions to agriculture and climate change and this is where we need to look past our feelings.

Politics can be very tribal and judgemental and it’s important to realise that all of the issues we are facing a more than a feeling and we have higher power within ourselves, some examples where people have looked past feeling and moved forward with great solutions would be the great green wall of Africa and hemp and other natural resources replacing plastics, so many solutions but so little discussion on them in mainstream media.

I think now more than ever we need to start looking at ideas that build a community for everyone and match the need not only the want. Remember there is not enough room in the universe for all of our thoughts and ideas.

Remembrance and Empathy

Quote: We do not remember days, we remember moments – Ceasare Pavese

The moment the ANZACS landed on the beaches of Gallipoli or charged the front lines of Beersheba on the Australian Lighthorse through to the peacekeeping missions of Vietnam to Middle East. All of these wars, we don’t remember the days per se its more about the moments, be it traumatic or great learning of human behaviour.

Internal conflicts are the hardest, enemy not so clear. Since last update I have come across some other important things to remember and to exercise empathy. When I did the Empathy Tweets broadcast for Easter, I talked about calling on the NT Chief Commissioner to carry out the recommendations made by the Northern Territory Royal Commission instead of taking measures that make it harder for young people to get bail and give police unprecedented powers. You can see the Empathy tweets & Broadcast here https://twitter.com/i/events/1378610072029327360

Fights come in different forms, such as the global fight we are currently waging against COVID 19. There is no country in the world that hasn’t been affected by the pandemic, on the 18th April the Empathy tweets had a blog from UNICEF telling the story of UNICEF Health workers delivering vaccines to people in Kathmandu in Nepal on foot. See the photos, its extraordinary click here https://twitter.com/i/events/1383658226588160002

Since last blog I have tweeted about Climate Change and petitions shouting for equality and social justice.

Why is it that everybody wants to rule the world?

Queen crown clipart. Free download transparent .PNG | Creazilla

Imagination rules the world – Napoleon Bonaparte

It would be fair to say that everybody believes their idea of solving a problem is the best idea or worst the only idea. I find when people seriously insist upon rule, they do so with an agenda in mind, sometimes this works out for the people, sometimes it doesn’t.

Since last update there have been new issues to discuss such as Myanmar, March 4 Justice and Climate change events. One of the tweets that received a mention in my Empathy tweets broadcast was regarding Myanmar, the dreadful atrocities that are occurring there, the reason I mention this is because it ain’t the first time this country has gone into Military rule, deeply troubling.

I often wonder how do people get locked into such a negative pattern of thinking, that they would act so aggressively and dismiss basic democracy and human rights. If you are on the positive side of the argument and you are willing navigate through to the win win solutions, I would say to you consider the agenda of your opponent, read that person, what are they all about? what are they getting out of this? There must be a pay off of some kind.

When you discover what that is you are half way there, the same logic also applies not just to developing countries but to 1st world countries such as Australia. Recently in Australia we had the March for Justice, a rally demonstrating the accountability of high office and protection in particular for female public servant workers in the Canberra bubble as it is called. Australia does not have an accountability office e.g Crime Commission or watchdog authority over Federal Politicians and there seriously needs to be one, what prompted this outrage was an Attorney general on rape accusations refusing to clear his name with an enquiry in order to maintain trust in office and another rape allegation in the parliament building along with some other less known offences. By having a federal authority responsible for oversight, there will be no need for protesting.

Sad as it is the message of Climate Change just doesn’t seem to be getting through, even though we have one dreadful climate event after another, the dreadful fires of 2020 and now the floods of 2021, there are still companies and governments dragging their feet on Climate Change. I guess the best thing we can do is use our imaginations for solutions and our perseverance to make them happen.

Since last blog I have tweeted about Climate Change and petitions shouting for equality and social justice.

Empathy Winners(Special VLOG Update)

G day everybody, I’m here streaming from the Gold Coast today, having a little getaway treat for myself after recovering from a fractured ankle.

While I have been recovering I have been giving some serious thought to the Basicozbizinfo Empathy Winners, it’s time now to get serious on this campaign

I’m so excited to start choosing empathy winners not just on Twitter but right across the Basicozbizinfo networks.

First let’s talk about empathy, what does empathy mean to you, let me tell you what it means to me. Having an understanding and respect of how another person feels or at the very least try to understand that feeling.

Basicozbizinfo Empathy Winners are the followers who inspire people to be their best. Basicozbizinfo inspires people to find new beginnings through empathy and opportunity, obviously empathy winners excel at this.

Life is hard, not everybody has had a good beginning and knows the abundance of opportunities that are out there and know how to embrace them.

One thing I have learnt is that you can’t do everything in this life by yourself, you will need the help and empathy of others. You can’t do it, I can’t do it, nobody can do it, everything completely on your own, if you think you can, I’m inclined to say your mistaken or your lying.

Nor would the universe expect us to, this is where Basicozbizinfo and the Empathy Winners comes in. Basicozbizinfo provides the catalogues, the blog, newsletter and new beginnings and opportunities however the Empathy winners make it all more special, without them there is no Basicozbizinfo, so they deserve something special and you can see what special benefits they receive by visiting Empathy TV on the Basicozbizinfo website.

Just on closing there is one thing I want to add. If you are to succeed and not to be disheartened by the challenges you face in life, persistence is omnipotent, a great or unlimited power. I have found this ring true for me on more than a few occasions, people can be very passive aggressive or should I say aggressive, the passive aggressive are still aggressive they are just not stupid enough to do it to your face.

What I am saying is, if you feel you haven’t succeeded in life because your home or family doesn’t meet your reasonable expectations or perhaps your in a job or club where you don’t fit into the culture and you try and try to get people to like you.

Don’t ever feel you have failed, you are simply going along your life path, what one needs to do is ask themselves what is it that makes ME happy and MAKE THAT DREAM OR GOAL HAPPEN with everything you have, every bit of energy you can muster and always make sure, is what I am doing improving and am I improving in some way and run that very race as fast as you can and if you are doing that you have already won against your aggressor.

Remember this. The hungry never get fed.

See you next week for Empathy tweets and enjoy the view.😊

Are you a winner of empathy?

Quote: If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride – and never quit, you will be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards. Bear Bryant

Absolutely! I like to think we all are one way or another. An empathy winner inspire others to be their best through opportunity & empathy. Since last update I have comes across some amazing and inspiring people and ideas.

A brilliant idea that creates a greenhouse like environment for plants and is made from recycled plastic waste. The Agrodome is made from PET, sourced from recycled plastic bottles. The bottles are cleaned, pulverized, and remoulded into domes, which help nurture plants by creating perfect conditions for plant growth.

An inspiring person called Gustavo was blinded after he was shot by the police during a protest in Chile. From the Amnesty international website, On the 8th November, Gustavo Gatica, a 21-year-old student joined the protests. Police fired into the crowds, and Gustavo was shot in both eyes.

He was blinded permanently. Even after enduring these injuries, Gustavo hopes that his blindness will help the world see what is happening in Chile; “I gave my eyes so people would wake up.”

Join the people at Only One. A new home for stories, solutions, and community action to protect the ocean, tackle the climate crisis, and help fuel the movement for a more just, equitable planet.

Step out into the dawn and discover that you too can be a winner of empathy. What can you do to inspire others to be their best, what opportunity can you create. There isn’t enough room in the universe for all our ideas.

Do you need to rise and reset for 2021?

Quote: “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”. Confucius

To head off into 2021 it must be said, 2020 has been a year where the majority of us were forced to stop, reflect and rise to new challenges. Since last update I have come across some amazing initiatives that deliver empathy and give opportunity to rise and make the lives of those in need and all of us better.

Greenpeace has started to tell Australia’s biggest companies to REenergise and go 100% renewable. The companies they focused on are Woolworths, Coles, Vodafone and Optus. By having these companies go 100% renewable means renewable energy becomes more of a power play in our communities. Greenpeace also ranks Australia’s companies on them leading the way on reaching 100% renewable and which are falling behind. Click here

Canva – Design for a Cause believes that everyone, everywhere, deserves the chance to create amazing designs that make the world a better place. With 48% of school age refugee children out of school, they have partnered with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency to support refugee education.

Creativity has the power to help raise funds to enrol refugee children into quality, primary education across 14 countries. Join UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Ben Stiller, by sharing your creativity to make a difference and help build a better future for a refugee child. Click here

Access to a decent toilet can prevent disease, reduce gender violence and improve education.

Global Citizen has embarked upon a campaign addressing the Global Sanitation Crisis, reading from the Global Citizen’s website. “Access to a decent toilet can prevent disease, reduce gender-based violence, and improve health and education outcomes for people living in extreme poverty. But, for 2 billion individuals, lack of access to basic sanitation facilities is a reality — while 673 million people are forced to defecate in the open, using everything from street gutters to bushes, bodies of water, and fields.” Click here

Have you let yourself be used?

Quote: “Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex… It takes a touch of genius – and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction. E. F. Schumacher

People use people, all the time, there is no doubt. People use each other for money, as a crutch for emotional needs, people use each other for political reasons as well. So where do we draw the line of when we allow ourselves to be used and when we don’t.

Truthfulness and honesty I find to be a good line in the sand. If people are honest with you the process is a lot easier, but of course you must always ask yourself, what will I get out of this.

What I have learnt over the years is that you need to know what your goals and directions are and simply see if they align with what the user wants to use you for, does it match up? If I do this for somebody else will this help me achieve my goals in some way?

When the answer to these questions are a negative or no longer positive as they once were, its time to move on and get back to your life goals and place them in first gear. All of the decisions you make in your life journey are not a waste of time, you will find there is a reason you chose the path you did.

Once you realise this, things become clear as to who you are and where you need to be and have the faith that your internal compass won’t lead astray.

Are you on the right track?

Quote: “The best way to find out whether you’re on the right path? Stop looking at the path.”

Marcus Buckingham

Despite all the misery in the world its good to know that there are people who make tracks, the best ones. From the Global citizen website: This year due to COVID-19, 50 million children worldwide missed their essential vaccination against polio — a horrific and highly contagious disease that leaves children paralyzed. Resources had to be redirected away from these vulnerable kids in 52 countries as medical staff and volunteers supported the pandemic response.

One could look at a situation such as this and feel a sense of helplessness, instead the Global Citizen says we can be the generation that ends polio. They aim to do this by calling on world leaders to end polio with a huge international petition. Click here

What difference can an hour make? A lot according to the Australian Conservation Foundation, through its Planet A Action hour, after all there is no Planet B. Empathy builds advocacy, when you get a group of people together for a good cause, the impact is significant, especially when a group signs a petition together, calls or visits their local member etc. When you have a group of connected individuals, you can then be certain of being on the right track. Northern Territory, Australia will be home to the largest Solar Farm in the world. The solar farm will generate enough renewable energy for Singapore and Darwin by 2026 and help build remote indigenous communities. Big projects lead to big outcomes, and when you have the vision, then you have the dream. Click here

Lastly sticking to theme of this update’s blog “Are you on the right track?” Global Citizen certainly was when it came to campaigning to end global hunger during COVID 19, with a worldwide Online house party and signing an international petition, pretty wow, check out the 11 hour Youtube video here

Say Something

“Preach not because you have to say something, but because you have something to say.” By Richard Whately

Question! When does our fear of safety become more important than our rights? Or perhaps a better question is WHY do we need to sacrifice our rights for fear?

Closed secret trials. Raids on journalists. Whistle-blowers and their lawyers facing prison time.

Are these the issues we like to see from our news sources all because of this fear of the unknown? Another question! Who is really afraid, us the people with fears of being attacked OR old power(traditional media, monarch states, states with outdated democratic models etc) being overtaken by new power(social media, instant communication between people & govt, progressive & inclusive groups etc)?

In Australia we have had a fear driven politics filled with drama and high alerts, be it China, Terrorism or the Economy and this kind of rhetoric has lead to proposals that cause an erosion of rights.

It doesn’t matter what crisis you face or choose to use as an example but you will find that fear is only used as a natural alert for yourself after that you move into fight or flight and start thinking of ways to resolve what you are facing. For example, when Australia had the bushfire tragedy at the beginning of the year due to Climate Change, immediately people were talking about solutions to prevent this from happening again, even a call on fire authorities to investigate personal fireproof bunkers. The CSIRO investigated six cases in Victoria where people survived in accredited purpose-built bunkers.

So why aren’t we talking about solutions that protect our rights but protect us as well instead of just proposing more heavy legislation. Click here

Below is a couple of examples of key areas where Australians need to say something and be heard.

Destruction of culturally significant indigenous sites- Click here

Raise the Age – NT 43 times higher the rate of youth indigenous incarceration compared to non-indigenous. Click here
