Have you betrayed yourself?

Betrayal

If you have noticed some of my recent tweets, you will notice the latest video added to the Basicozbizinfo Empathy TV on YouTube. If you haven’t, check it out and be inspired by Oprah Winfrey and Caroline Myss. Oprah asks how do you know when you are on the right path? Where Caroline replies “When you are not put into a position to betray yourself” What I take from that is, not only is it important to know yourself but only choose paths allow you to be you and there is no sacrifice of values.

The Weekend empathy tweets and the Inspirational Posts Collection on Google Plus have been receiving a lot of pluses, retweets and likes, its always great to share such great stories of Empathy. One in particular that stands out is from Monica Lewinsky’s Bullying prevention foundation production of a great video called “In Real Life – an offline experiment” where bullying posts and tweets are acted out in real life, a true masterpeice in empathy. Upgrade Your World

Taking the next level

Hump Day Post

Edition 16

I realized my YouTube Empathy Inspiration playlist had been neglected for a little while and I hadn’t added any interesting videos. Looking for inspiration I decided to have a look at some videos that I had liked with the thumbs up. The first one I noticed I had added some time ago and is still in there and that is superheroes by The Script, such an amazing video and song about a father who collects rubbish for a living and goes to work in a suit and tie so not shame his daughter, another one and I hadn’t added was by Oprah, a show she did a few years ago but still very relevant.

A lady said she had a light bulb moment about something that always stayed in her mind and that was her Dad had told her quite bluntly “Your’e getting fat aren’t you?” Not a very helpful and considerate question. Oprah replied “In situations like this and conflict I always ask myself “What does this mean?” “What is this situation trying to tell us?” By doing this we can make steps to improve our lives instead of dwelling on the negative commentary of another.

Another word for improvement is upgrade, another video I liked and added to the playlist was a cute little video from Windows 10, showing how we can upgrade our world including those in developing countries and shows how the latest windows software helps in their everyday lives like beginning businesses, getting water, making infrastructure, truly fantastic. I think we can all learn how to upgrade our worlds and the worlds of others, check out the videos on the Basicozbizinfo homepage, click on Playlist in the top corner, link below.

Take care and keep the faith 🙂

Selma- Political vilification leads to bad business

SELMA

Hump Day Post

Edition 8

I was going through my twitter feed and I noticed a tweet from Oprah about her film she starred in and produced, Selma, the true story of the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights for African Americans. Immediatley I developed an interest in what the story was about, I had heard about Martin Luther King and the march on Washington, but I hadn’t heard of Selma, however I had heard of Bloody Sunday. Selma was called Bloody Sunday for a very good reason, its the day where the civil rights march was stopped by a line of state troopers who put on gas masks, and then attacked with clubs, horses, tear gas and other weapons.

I looked up the real footage videos uploaded to YouTube and I was quite appalled and even felt physically ill, they were clearly bullying these passive people and hoping nobody was watching or would care. Placing one’s emotions aside for a moment, to villify a particular group and stop them from voting is ridicoulous and not to mention socially counter productive. The more participating in a society, economy to a sporting team the better that thing becomes, you don’t even have to be a player you could just be a supporter, it always makes it better, this is virtually common knowledge.

The more people communicate with one another and show empathy the more something great grows, which is what clearly happened at Selma. Bloody Sunday was watched by millions all over the world on their television sets. The day is now remembered and basic civil rights is honoured, however it does make you wonder as to why it all began in the first instance, it doesn’t take much effort to see or feel for another being, we all didn’t start caring and feeling because of television or internet.

Some people have empathy and some do not, its part of nature, and those without empathy will always look for an excuse, race, gender anything that is different to them, having said that it seems to me we must get used to the fact that at some stage or other we will have to fight for empathy not only for our need of basic justice but for business too, you can’t have a market place without people and you can’t just do business with one kind of people, you miss out on so many opportunities.

Take care and keep the faith 🙂
