Respect Boundaries and the empathy we deserve.

Do you find that we are losing more and more of boundaries or autonomy? Covid hasn’t exactly helped the situation, but as people become more push & shove in their everyday life we lose what Aretha Franklin sang for RESPECT. Aretha was mainly reffering to respect for women, now I find the song is needed as respect for everybody.

People are definitely being used, I justify this by observing how we are continuously being given instruction. Unemployment is at its lowest, so this must mean you should be employed, be brilliant at your job, companies are working very hard to keep you so you should be GRATEFUL!

Sadly this perception doesn’t reflect reality, I have always found in my twenty years or so working in corporations, people who use people are not innovative people, thats why they use people, there only talent is manipulating others.

As a result we miss out on innovating ideas that help all of us prosper instead of just running to the starting gun of leftover 20th century corporate culture, making people feel guilty instead of empowered.

Look at the old rich! How did they become rich? Bet you anything they would have USED people in order to get there, same in politics as well, I don’t belive I need to give any examples regarding politics, the 6’oclock news gives plenty.

We need to fight for a sustainable economy for all us which I talked about in my last blog, however how we fight this by coming up with great ideas that respect people’s boundaries and allow their autonomy and not mess with their minds but allow their creative juices to flow and using the power of empathy, after all thats where all the best ideas come from.

In closing, good examples of respecting boundaries, is understanding that your industry isn’t the only industry, respect the fact that Indigenous people had the land first and if they want to use it for tourism(billion dollar industry) or for sacred reasons etc, they can, just because it doesn’t suit your mining interest, respect boundaries.

Another example is protecting our Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The Great barrier reef is the largest living organism on earth, key word being living, yes tourism is important but so is the right to exist. Nature has just as much right to be here as humans do and again this boundary needs to be respected and if not respected will be fought for and hard.

Sustainability and Protection

Quote: Protecting our environment and natural resources is necessary for both our planet and our economy. Sharice Davids

A sad reality is if we are to make our environment and economy sustainable, we will have to protect it. Since last update there have been some great examples in the Empathy Tweets of how we can protect our environment and economy by being more sustainable in our thinking.

The Climate council has put forward an economic proposal that can bring Australia into a trillon dollar economy which we can use to build our communities.

Sounds great don’t it, so why don’t we get in and do it, because it doesn’t suit the interest of old money and some people don’t have the empathy to look past their own nose, they have the pathetic romance of looking after themselves and putting themselves forward and some look at this as an heroic attribute, its simply selfishness disguised as an affirmation.

Control is the key, renewable energy and sustainable solutions put people in control, think about it without a power grid how can you control people or business unless you break into someone’s home and damage their power source and with having more than one power source brings competition into the marketplace.

In order for things such as renewable energy, sustainable devlopment to happen, we need to fix our political system first, so it is for the people’s needs. Currently govt is a cash grab for the highest bidder taking advantage of an old system that needs modernising.

If we can modernise our democrarcy systems this is a great way to protect our future and make it more sustainable, not only this but by empowering a marketplace that is sustainable thus creating a sustainable economy this in itself can help mould our govt democratic system.

Since last blog I have tweeted about Climate Change and petitions shouting for equality and social justice.

Are you doing what makes you happy?

Happy Man

“Until you are happy with who you are, you will never be happy because of what you have.” Zig Ziglar

Since last update Australia has descended into panic to the point of purchasing ridiculous amounts toilet paper(insert eye roll here).

Due to the Covid19 people have become anxious, this pandemic is bad no doubt, however panic and worry never achieved much. As humans we like to think we are in control, I often think of control as an illusion, the reality is you don’t know what’s going to happen next be it good or bad, the only thing you can count on is your reaction to it. “persistence is omnipotent” is one of my favourite mottos. One thing I think is important is to always do what makes you happy regardless of circumstance, so in this blog I ask “Are you doing what makes you happy?”

With the panic, unfortunately the ugliness of human behaviour surfaces with racism towards the Chinese and refusing to visit Chinese shops or Asian eateries. To combat this craziness Get Up started a new power campaign #Iwilleatwithyou click here

People refusing to surrender to panic and misinformation doing what they normally do or what makes them happy.

Another example of doing what makes you happy, the annual Sydney Mardi Gras for LGTBQIA, thousands attended just like they do every year with big names in music and the most prominent float being the firefighters, check out all the fun here

Who is in control of our empathy?

people-holding-hands

Our empathy is always our own to administer, however do we use our empathy to convince those who cause huge amounts of pain, such as families escaping poverty due to inequality, war or Climate Change to change their ways or be a solution and light to that existing pain.

Yesterday I posted a tweet reply to Alexandria Orcasio Cortez(AOC) that racked up quite a lot of impressions and likes, I was replying to her brilliant response to the cost of Insulin in the US which is $1000 per month WITH insurance, AOC went on to query further on to define how stock buybacks, where companies buy their own stock to push up stock value in turn affects the price of pharmaceuticals and how legislating against this would solve this horrendous inequality problem where the poor can’t afford basic health care, also AOC mentioned how her own struggle looking after her father before he died from a rare form of lung cancer, please watch here.

Solutions are needed not just the protest and the fight, such as the UN Global goals to combat Climate Crisis, hence the Worlds Largest Solar Thermal plant, check out my Weekend Empathy Tweets Moment on Twitter, click here.

Australian Indigenous recognition and improving the poverty gap has always been a political issue for as long as I have been born, I can just remember as a kid when Prime Minister Gough Whitlam pours soil into hand of traditional landowner Vincent Lingiari, Northern Territory’ 1975 Click here. Solutions such as Treaty and National Learning of Indigenous languages cannot be understated as a good step forward, click here to find more info, Weekend Empathy Tweets Moment, click here.

Homelessness, Housing affordability and Inequality in general due to unsubstantiated inadequate spending on people services, truth in political advertising is the key method to solving these issues , because if the govt is not spending on people services what is it spending the money on, its whole purpose is to create revenue and service for the people, click here for more info, Weekend Empathy Tweets Moment, click here.

Do you believe in placing out a Welcome Mat to those in need?

Welcome Mat Blog

I most certainly believe in placing out a welcome mat for people such as refugees, people fleeing violence oppression and victims of inequality such as the homeless and even whistle-blowers who expose a governments wrong doing and being harassed and bullied by an authorities’ abuse of power such as Julian Assange and Chelsea Manning to name some good examples.

In traditional media and on some social media funnels these people seem to be demonised or seen as a threat????? Where did we lose such common sense, education and empathy? Every problem has a solution, what we should be doing is focusing and promoting solutions not a political hatred and not using people in despair as political ping pong ball distractions and looks like I am not alone in my thinking.

Since last update I have noticed a huge spotlight being put on refugees, a simple tweet I posted asking people to donate to ARC(Asylum Seeker Resource Centre) received just under 5000 impressions, minutes after it was posted(click here). Alexandria Orcasio-Cortez in my firm opinion a Human Rights Champion put up the argument that on the US Border there are concentration camps under these definitions, that seems to fit correctly. Click here

I have always found in my experience when you have a significant amounts of corruption, you then have a significant amounts of inequality, all of this is driven by a certain economic interest, people who want to use govt money for other things than building a community. Julian Assange founder of Wikileaks uncovered huge amount of political corruption on both sides, a good example is how the US is applying jurisdiction to other countries and now he is slowly being precipitated against and bullied. Click here

In Australia we are starting to see similar examples such as the AFP(Australian Federal Police) raids on a political journalist Annika Methurst and the ABC – Click Here  In Queensland we have the Qld govt more or less approving a ridiculous thermal coal mine Adani(see previous blogs) instead of adequate funding for troubled youth and as a result we have kids in watch house(click here)

We need more empathy in our world, along with welcome mats and less BS as the March for our Lives teenagers rightfully call it.

Changed minds equals a changed economy.

New Economy

Two extraordinary people have captured my attention since last update, the amazing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on defence of The Green New Deal and of course Julian Assange who despite his political arrest, his fight continues.

I will never forget Collateral Murder(click here), this was an undeniable turning point in our western culture, we could see first hand the crimes our western culture commits and of course like most adults we don’t assume there is one great power except that of the people, this is Julian’s or Wikileaks message , plain and simple. Nobody is above the law or above fair criticism and there is no such thing as classified information, keeping secrets from humans is generally impossible.

Most opponents of progressive thinking or general common sense with empathy and without issue always use the economy or money as an excuse to defend lack of action, no greater example of this than with climate change, it’s in our economic interest to transition to renewables so our economy can prosper with smarter technology that creates opportunities within itself as opposed to simply holding onto old money ways because that’s the comfort zone your used to, as an adult you must accept things change with out political tantrum and if it’s the right path, you walk it.

Human Rights and Human Solutions

human-rights-900x600

Since last update, I have been using the Human rights hashtag quite frequently for everything from disability rights, a royal commission into the mistreatment and neglect of the disabled care centres in Australia to the recent arrest of Chelsea Manning for refusing to give evidence regarding wikileaks in a unopen arena.

Greed and ignorance always leads to corruption and ill-treatment of the vulnerable, however there is a good saying “You don’t win by fighting those you hate but by saving those you care about”. A good example is how Microsoft is using AI(artificial Intelligence) to map forests, all their vegetation, insects, animals in order to preserve the forest and accurately record its DNA structure if you like, this will be helpful when Climate Change kicks in, you can see the video on Empathy TV, another good example is by sharing the good news as well as the bad on your social media account, everything from Amnesty Petitions through to climate change events or emailing your an MP on your objection to oil drilling in an ecosystem such as the Great Australian Bight.

Are you ready to give this season?

Giving is the highest form of empathy, an activity that is one on one, it’s all about the receiver but also the giver. Christmas can get busy fast and in a ridiculous way, for me as my birthday is exactly 4 weeks before Christmas its get crazy with parties, family get togethers and so on and of course one needs to find time out of our daily grind to do the annual Christmas shopping. I was going through my Weekend Empathy Moments on twitter looking for inspiration for the last blog of 2018 and I came across an interview with Russell Brand and Marianne Williamson, Marianne was talking about depression and how it shouldn’t be dealt with in a drug taking way but in a more real and natural way and don’t expect immediate results, what captured my interest in that interview was when she said that its important to show up for people and do not squander one hour in your pain, that made a lot of sense to me. I am at my most productive when I take the time to think about how I can help someone else and this gives your life a purpose as opposed to an existence.

Tis the season of giving, share or donate charity links is a good way to give, I do this regularly and I find it’s a good way to promote empathy and opportunity at the same time, here some good examples since last update, Gulzar Duishenova is a Kyrgyzstani woman with a disability, who lives in a society where persons with disabilities face daily discrimination. One of these forms of discrimination is accessibility; from going to the doctor, to getting on public transport(Click here)  another example is after seven years of war, Syrians are struggling to survive. Over 5.5 million men, women and children have fled to neighbouring countries, where they live in extreme poverty, click here  Please give and be merry. Give a little bit »

Do you strive for progress?

Progress and Growth

IF THERE IS NO STRUGGLE, THERE IS NO PROGRESS. Progressive thinking has dominated social networks this update, a story that touched me in particular is about a group of young protesters of gun violence who melted guns into shovels to plant trees alongside victims of gun violence on the anniversary of Martin Luther King. One notable person from the video is the mother of Rob Peblete who was gunned down by gun violence at the age of 23. The video Serotiny.

Mapping for poverty is not a term you hear everyday, however this is exactly what a tech company is doing in Kenya, mapping the slum districts for essential services by using google maps and their own tech software to improve the infrastructure for these living places, you can see PBS’s news report here. Its a really good example of how internet, social media and satelite tech can help improve the lives of so many.

No doubt of late you would have heard of walls being built to keep out immigrants which I have protested about in my previous blogs, however have you heard of Africa’s Great Green Wall? This is truly an amazing tree planting project that spans across several countries through the continent to alleviate drought. The green wall focuses on planting tress that are dry resistant and and create crops and improves their local and neighbouring economies.

What’s Inside Matters!

Refugees

Do YOU think so? I certainly do, what I have seen since last update has been absolutely heartbreaking and not to mention feelings of sadness, then fortitude. Why do certain sections of our society seem to be very quick to judge refugees(people seeking asylum) and immigrants and where does this crazy fear come from? To separate children from parents for sake of politics that does not serve any purpose other than offending people you have a dislike for e.g Lefties, betrays any kind of empathy or political common sense, not too mention business sense.

Like I mentioned in my previous blogs, capitalism is about keeping the existing rich wealthy and the poor poorer, which gets to answering the question, where does this crazy fear come from? People who experience hardship come up with the best ideas, this is common knowledge. These ideas ae progressive and if funded they help others grow and prosper, hence creating more competition for old business and opportunity for everybody else which means people are less dependent on…………..Capitalism(Old Money).

There are so many growing crowdfunding opportunities and petitions out there on the internet and these opportunities are the very thing that is a threat to old ways. Here are some examples of people who have been prevented from seeking these opportunities, single mother from Brisbane, Bernadette Romulo is about to be torn away from her son by the Australian Government and deported to the Philippines. Click here https://twitter.com/Ljb2Liam/status/1010847996982976512

Priya and Nades were settled in Biloela after fleeing torture and suffering in Sri Lanka. Despite the advice of human right organisations on the ground, our current Government has decided that Sri Lanka is now safe. This is why they are trying to force Priya, Nades and their two beautiful young children back to Sri Lanka. As a result at 5am, their home was stormed by armed police and Border Force officers. Their seven month old baby and two and a half-year old daughters were ripped from their beds. Priya and Nades were told they were being taken to a Melbourne detention centre and given ten minutes to pack up their lives. Click here https://twitter.com/Ljb2Liam/status/1010870562971791360

Ali is 63 years old and not expected to live many more months. He is also a member of the persecuted Hazaran minority and has been formally recognised as a refugee, but today he is lying on a bed in an Australian detention centre on Nauru in pain and discomfort dying from lung cancer. He has one incredibly simple request: to come to Australia and receive some relief from the pain and die with some dignity and comfort. Click here https://twitter.com/Ljb2Liam/status/1010856177599635456

In my book, if a person has empathy, a sense and understanding of what others are feeling, then the gate is open and they can come inside, what’s inside matters.
